Books That Changed Us. What are some books that changed your view of the world, changed the way you think?

The Humanities Montana Festival of the Book. Check out these three new discussions with corresponding events at this year's festival:

Montana Poet Laureate: Sheryl Noethe. Poet and teacher Sheryl Noethe discusses her poetry and welcomes your thoughts, perspectives and questions.

Random Acts of Creativity. Missoula artist and educator Susie Risho moderates this discussion about the function and value of a community's creative spirit.

Off the Trail: Encounters with Montana's Weird and Wild History, a new discussion about history found off the beaten path. Moderated by writer, musician and graphic designer Ednor Therriault.

Tobin Shearer Wins UM Teaching Award

Humanities Montana board member Tobin Shearer will receive the 2013 Helen and Winston Cox Educational Excellence Award at UM's 116th Commencement on Saturday, May 18.



Shearer teaches in the Department of History and directs the African American Studies program. His courses include Prayer and Civil Rights; The Black Radical Tradition; and African American Religious Experience: Voodoo, Muslim, Church: Black Religion.
