Remembrance of Things Past, when I was 7.... Just kidding. Actually, what leaps to mind is book I know a gazillion other people read too (esp. those born in the late 60s or early 70s): How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell. I read it in…

Jr., in the book “The absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian” by Sherman Alexie. Jr. has such a good sense of humor in the book; while he narrates he will keep you laughing through the entire book. From my point of view with the…

Great list, David.  I'll always love "Hills Like White Elephants"—especially for the line, "Would you please please, please please please please stop talking?"

Hi there. I'm the site

administrator for the Humanities

Roundtable, so if you have any questions

about how to use this site, or if you have any

comments about what you find here, feel free to

contact me.

For years I was a software development manager for

various companies large and small, first in Oakland, CA, then in Seattle, WA, then in Washington, DC. Now I'm quite happy working on smaller projects on a freelance basis. I live a few miles west of Missoula in the Petty Creek valley.

Some of my other work includes:

humanitiesmontana.org — the website for Humanities Montana. (I didn't design this site, but I've been updating and maintaining it for the past couple years.)

reflectionswest.org — the website for Reflections West, a radio program produced by my wife, Lisa Simon, about the literature, history and culture of the West.

missoulapubliclibrary.org/map — a series of web-based interactive maps showcasing some of the state's literary treasures, developed for the Missoula Public Library.

sherylnoethe.com — the personal website of Montana poet extraordinaire, Sheryl Noethe.

frenchtownfire.org — the website for Frenchtown Fire, an all-service department protecting the western half of Missoula county.

Thank you very much.  I need to get more familiar / comfortable with the roundtable before I have much to add.

I spun through those games, Jason. A nice dose of humility for anyone who think he/she has unmuddled thinking. Thanks for the suggestion!

Jason, I love the image at the top of your profile. You are one sensitive soul out there in Frenchtown. Plus thanks for the great links. I plan to sound a lot smarter after perusing the Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy plus digesting Hungerford's lectures. Thank you. 'Cause I need to be smarter.

Spam Attack on the Roundtable

As some of you know, spammers have recently joined the Roundtable (one on April 2, another on April 13) and left comments for several members of the site. Basically the spammers are trying to solicit email addresses from members (presumably to send more spam). By default, adding a comment to a member's profile triggers an email, so each targeted member also received an email message—not directly from the spammer(s), but from the Roundtable notifying him/her that a comment had been… Continue

Montana Authors Project

Missoula Public Library went "live" this week with a new product—the Montana Authors Project—a web-based resource that brings some of your favorite regional literature to digital life. Check it out:
